ISLAMABAD: Foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Egypt arrived in Islamabad on Sunday for consultations aimed at de-escalating the ongoing conflict involving Iran, as Pakistan steps up diplomatic efforts to prevent further regional instability.
Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud arrived on an official visit at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s Foreign Office said in a statement, adding that he would hold consultations on “regional developments.”
The high-level engagements come amid intensifying hostilities following US-Israeli strikes on Iran that have triggered retaliatory attacks across the Gulf, raising concerns over a wider regional conflict and disruption to global energy flows.
Pakistan has positioned itself as a key diplomatic interlocutor, maintaining contacts with regional and global stakeholders while advocating dialogue and restraint.
In separate meetings, Dar held talks with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, where all sides emphasized the urgency of de-escalation.
“The two foreign ministers stressed dialogue, de-escalation, diplomacy and coordination for peace and stability,” the Foreign Office said following Dar’s meeting with his Turkish counterpart.
The ministry added that the visiting ministers were in Islamabad to “consult on the evolving regional situation and ongoing de-escalation efforts.”
During the discussions with Türkiye, both sides reaffirmed their “historic and fraternal ties” and reviewed the full spectrum of bilateral relations, while also exchanging views on developments related to Iran.
“They emphasized the importance of dialogue and sustained diplomatic engagement to promote peace and stability,” the statement said.
In his meeting with Egypt’s foreign minister, Dar reiterated Pakistan’s call for restraint and peaceful resolution of disputes.
“Both sides… underscored the need for restraint, de-escalation, and the resolution of disputes through dialogue and diplomacy,” the Foreign Office said.
Dar also reaffirmed Pakistan’s position on broader regional issues, expressing support for the Palestinian people and condemning “continued aggression by Israeli occupying forces in Gaza and the West Bank.”
Officials said the consultations would feed into a broader quadrilateral engagement focused on coordinating diplomatic responses to the crisis.
The meetings highlight Pakistan’s expanding diplomatic outreach as regional powers intensify coordination to contain a conflict that is increasingly affecting security, humanitarian conditions and global economic stability.
