ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, warned that disruptions in the Indian Ocean could affect supply chains, energy prices, and connected economies, a statement issued by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
A two-day international conference titled “Emerging Technologies and the Future Warfare,” hosted by the Maritime Centre of Excellence (MCE), concluded in Karachi.
The conference, titled “Emerging Technologies and the Future Warfare,” from April 22 to April 23, aimed to bring together maritime experts, academia, and defense industry representatives on one platform to discuss evolving geostrategic trends and the impact of technology on modern warfare, said the statement.
Chief of the Naval Staff Ashraf attended the two-day international conference hosted by the Maritime Centre of Excellence (MCE) in Karachi as the chief guest, the statement said.
Addressing participants, the naval chief underscored the importance of close collaboration between industry, end-users, and academia to drive innovation, adaptability, and operational relevance.
He also highlighted the Indian Ocean as a key region, noting its central role in global trade flows, warning that any disruption could significantly affect supply chains, energy prices, and connected economies.
The naval chief said such cooperation would promote indigenization and self-reliance, contributing to a cost-effective and globally competitive defense ecosystem with export potential.
The conference also focused on the blurring lines between civilian and military applications of advanced technologies, as well as the rapid transformation of warfare through evolving operational concepts and force structures, it added.
The event was attended by senior military leadership, policymakers, diplomats, academics, industry experts, and students.
It concluded with a reaffirmation of the need for sustained intellectual synergy to navigate technology-driven transformations in future warfare.
