Pakistan, Egypt commence bilateral counter-terrorism Joint Exercise Thunder-II

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Egypt on Monday started a two-week-long bilateral counter-terrorism exercise conducted between their militaries, a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said. 


Joint Exercise Thunder-II, which commenced on April 6 at the Special Operations School in Cherat, Pakistan, is a bilateral counter-terrorism exercise where troops from Pakistan’s Special Services Group of and Egypt’s Special Forces participate.


“The Commandant Special Operations School, Cherat, graced the opening ceremony as Chief Guest,” the press release issued by ISPR said.


According to the press release, the exercise was aimed at enhancing professional skills through joint training, while further strengthening the longstanding military-to-military relations between the two friendly countries.


“Participating troops will benefit from the exchange of mutual experiences and expertise, particularly in the conduct of counter-terrorism operations,” ISPR added.
