ISLAMABAD: Pakistan&rsquo;s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong on Thursday, with both sides condemning recent terrorist attacks in Balochistan and reaffirming their commitment to strengthening security cooperation under the China-Pakistan strategic partnership.&nbsp;During the meeting at the Interior Ministry, the Chinese envoy expressed condolences over the loss of&nbsp;<a href="https://www.pakistantv.com/article/12-indianbacked-militants-killed-in-clearance-operation-after-terrorists-attack-in-police-station-banks-pakistan-army" target="_blank" style="color:#0073e6;" rel="noopener noreferrer">civilian and security personnel&#39;s lives</a>&nbsp;in the attacks and conveyed China&rsquo;s solidarity with the affected families. He said Beijing strongly opposes terrorism in all its forms and stands firmly with Pakistan in its fight against militancy, according to an official statement.&nbsp;&nbsp;Naqvi said the attacks in Balochistan were carried out under what he described as a &ldquo;well-planned and organized scheme,&rdquo; adding that Pakistan&rsquo;s security forces had&nbsp;<a href="https://www.pakistantv.com/article/pakistan-security-forces-kill-216-terrorists-in-balochistan-operation-military" target="_blank" style="color:#0073e6;" rel="noopener noreferrer">responded in a timely and effective manner</a>.&nbsp;He briefed the ambassador on ongoing security operations in the province and on measures being taken to protect Chinese nationals and projects in Pakistan, calling their safety a top priority.&nbsp;Naqvi said Pakistan was in the process of establishing a Special Protection Unit for Chinese citizens and added that modern Chinese technology and equipment would support coordinated counter-terrorism operations.&nbsp;The two sides discussed counter-terrorism, internal security cooperation, intelligence sharing, and collaboration in tackling cybercrime, according to an official statement.&nbsp;Both Naqvi and Jiang reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the China-Pakistan strategic partnership. The Chinese ambassador thanked Pakistan for the steps taken to ensure the security of Chinese nationals, while Naqvi expressed appreciation for China&rsquo;s continued support for Pakistan.&nbsp;Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, senior Interior Ministry officials, and Chinese embassy representatives were also present at the meeting.

The countries established a framework requiring their Joint Working Group to convene quarterly, with interior ministers meeting annually. Wang praised Pakistan&#39;s counterterrorism efforts and security measures protecting Chinese nationals and projects. China values Pakistan&#39;s sacrifices in combating terrorism, he stated. The ministers discussed sister-city cooperation between Islamabad and Beijing and approved a joint strategy to improve training for police and security personnel. Naqvi talked about information sharing between security institutions through training programs. He told Wang that protecting Chinese nationals and joint development projects remains Pakistan&#39;s top priority. He stated that the government is establishing a special protection unit in Islamabad. Pakistan seeks Chinese assistance in combating cybercrimes and wants to leverage Chinese expertise to strengthen its National Cyber Crimes Investigation Agency, Naqvi said. He stated that AI-based Chinese technologies could significantly aid Pakistan&#39;s counterterrorism and security operations. The Pakistani interior minister invited his Chinese counterpart to visit Pakistan. Meanwhile, Wang invited Naqvi to the Global Security Cooperation Forum in China to be held in September this year.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday ordered stronger, technology-driven measures to combat human trafficking and illegal migration, stressing that legal overseas travel for Pakistani citizens must be safeguarded through improved systems and coordination.&nbsp;Chairing a high-level meeting, the prime minister reviewed actions taken against illegal migration, including the misuse of work, visit and tourist visas, as well as offloading and deportation cases that contribute to irregular movement to European countries, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister&rsquo;s Office (PMO).&nbsp;The meeting was informed that steps are underway to activate the e-gates system at airports, while artificial intelligence is being introduced to detect and prevent illegal travel.&nbsp;&ldquo;Full use of technology to improve the immigration system is the need of the hour,&rdquo; PM Sharif said, underscoring the importance of modern tools in curbing trafficking networks and irregular migration.&nbsp;He also directed authorities to further improve the Protectorate of Emigrants&#39; performance and emphasized closer coordination between the Federal Investigation Agency and other relevant institutions.&nbsp;The objective, he said, is to ensure that Pakistani citizens traveling abroad legally for employment do not face unnecessary hurdles.&nbsp;According to the PMO, the meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi, Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazir Tarar, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, and senior government officials.
