ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday announced that it received 12 bids from interested parties for two new franchises of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) tournament, a statement issued by the cricketing body said. According to the statement, the board called the development an &ldquo;exceptional and encouraging response,&rdquo; sharing that &ldquo;these bidders belong to five continents, including the United States, Australia, Canada, the United Arab Emirates, and Pakistan.&rdquo;&nbsp; The board said that the response reflected PSL&rsquo;s growing global popularity and &ldquo;commercial appeal.&rdquo; It added that the results of the current phase of the bidding process will be announced on December 27.&nbsp; &ldquo;In the next stage, technically qualified bidders will be given the opportunity to purchase the two new teams through an open competition bidding process,&rdquo; the press release said. As of now, there are six teams in the league with every team containing a mix of local and international players.&nbsp; This will be the first major restructure of the tournament since 2018. The bidding process will be held on January 8, the board said.&nbsp; &ldquo;The Pakistan Cricket Board is committed to completing this process in a transparent and competitive manner in line with international standards, to ensure the continued expansion and growth of the HBL Pakistan Super League,&rdquo; the PCB statement said.

India&rsquo;s men refused to shake hands with their Pakistani opponents at the Asia Cup in September, since then neither side has shown signs of making up. That animosity spread to the women&#39;s sides who declined any greeting at the recent T20 World Cup and also to Sunday&#39;s men&#39;s Rising Stars Asia Cup tie in Doha. India&rsquo;s blind players were expected to mirror the conduct of their sighted teams when there was no handshake after the toss, but at the end of the match both sides warmly greeted each other. The two sides, who travelled to the venue together in the same bus, not only shook hands but also exchanged generous compliments. India won by eight wickets in just 10.2 overs after Pakistan were restricted to 135 for eight in their 20 overs at the Free Trade Zone grounds in Katunayake, 30 kilometres (18 miles) north of Colombo. Four other nations - Australia, Nepal, Sri Lanka and the US -- are competing in the tournament which began in India and moved to Sri Lanka for the final stages. Pakistani pacer Haris Rauf was found guilty on the same offense twice, bringing his total to four demerit points within 24 months. The pacer was found guilty of breaching Article 2.21 of the code twice, which is imposed on &ldquo;conduct that brings the game into disrepute,&rdquo; the press release said. Consequently, as per the rules of the council, the Pakistani pacer was suspended for Pakistan&rsquo;s One Day International games against South Africa on November 4 and 6. Rauf was also fined 30% of his match fee on both offenses. &nbsp; Sahibzada Farhan was found to have breached the same article; however, the batter was issued an official warning and one demerit point.&nbsp; Indian Skipper Suryakumar Yadav was also found guilty of breaching Article 2.21 and fined 30% of his match fee, receiving two demerit points. Whereas pacer Jasprit Bumrah accepted a charge under Article 2.21 and &ldquo;the proposed sanction of an official warning, which resulted in one demerit point. As he accepted the sanction, no formal hearing was required,&rdquo; the statement said. The ICC also said that Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh was &ldquo;found not guilty of an alleged breach of Article 2.6, which pertains to using a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting, and therefore no sanction was imposed.&rdquo;
