Ergo, while the laughter is real, research shows that the hidden costs are real too. Do sleepovers build friendships?One common argument is that sleepovers help children bond. And it is true, spending extra time together strengthens friendships. But do they have to bond overnight? Child development studies tell us children build deep connections through teamwork, games, sports, creative clubs, and playdates. In Japan, overnight stays usually happen at schools under trained supervision. In Scandinavian countries, its nature camps with structured guidance. Friendship doesn&rsquo;t require risk. Children can bond just as well, and sometimes more meaningfully, through safe, supervised activities. Healthier alternativesSaying no to sleepovers doesn&rsquo;t mean saying no to fun. Parents can offer other options that give children the same joy without the risks: Late-night playdatesChildren can watch a movie, eat snacks, and play till 9 p.m. or 10 p.m., then head home for proper rest. Supervised group eventsCamping trips, movie nights, or school retreats allow for bonding in a safe, structured way. Family-based overnightsStaying with cousins or trusted relatives gives the same excitement but within familiar boundaries and values. As an educator, I believe traditions should be revisited regularly in light of children&rsquo;s well-being. Sleepovers are not categorically &ldquo;bad&rdquo; in themselves, but they carry risks that cannot be ignored. Tradition alone should not decide what is right for our children. Our choices should be guided by what protects them today and prepares them for a better and more secure tomorrow. The United Nations has been clear, The last eight years have been the hottest on record globally. This staggering reality is not lost on our children. As an educator, I witness their subtle anxiety every day, expressed through questions like: &quot;Why is it so hot?&quot; and &quot;Why did the flood ruin my uncle&rsquo;s house?&quot; These are not casual questions. They are children grappling with the new, harsh reality of their lives. The time for debating climate change is over. We are living through it. Every summer seems to break the record of the last. Devastating floods, such as those that affected more than 33 million people in Pakistan this year, are now a seasonal expectation. At the same time, parts of Europe saw temperatures cross 40 degrees Celsius for the first time. This is not bad luck. It is accelerating climate change, driven by human activity: burning fossil fuels, deforestation and pollution. The issue isn&#39;t about distant glaciers. It is about our daily survival: the quality of the air we breathe, the stability of our food supply and the safety of our families. When floods wipe out crops, food prices jump. When heatwaves intensify, outdoor play becomes dangerous. Climate change is a local, public health and economic emergency. Currently, most schools only touch on climate change in Science or Geography classes. But this coverage is typically superficial. It stops at defining the problem and fails entirely to teach students what to do about it. This is a failure of responsibility. We need to move past defining the crisis and start actively preparing students to be critical thinkers and contributors to the solutions. We urgently need a formal, standalone curriculum for climate change built around action, not just memorization. By focusing on climate education now, we give the next generation the skills to adapt, innovate and lead. The students in our classrooms today are tomorrow&#39;s policymakers, business leaders and parents. The choices they make will determine whether society moves toward a sustainable future or further destruction. By prioritizing this education, we equip them to act responsibly. More importantly, we give them hope. We show them they don&#39;t have to be passive victims of the crisis; they can be powerful agents of change. Climate change is the great challenge of our time. Let&rsquo;s use it as an opportunity to teach responsibility, empathy and courage. I believe, unequivocally, that climate change must be formally integrated into our national school curriculum. We must stop limiting ourselves to raising awareness. We must give our students the tools and knowledge to act&mdash;to save water, reduce waste, plant trees and advocate for the planet. This is not an abstract debate. It is a fundamental choice about our children&rsquo;s survival, right here in Pakistan. If we act now, we can prepare them to build a cleaner, safer and healthier world. Let us, as parents and educators, support this critical curriculum change. Our children are ready to learn and act. ISLAMABAD: Member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will actively campaign worldwide in support of Bangladesh&rsquo;s candidature for the presidency of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman said on Saturday. Speaking to reporters at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport upon his return from Saudi Arabia, Dr Rahman said Bangladesh has received &ldquo;full and unequivocal backing&rdquo; from OIC member states for its bid, state-run Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) news agency reported. &ldquo;The candidate has been changed following the change in government. One of our key challenges is that Cyprus has been campaigning throughout the year, whereas we have barely three months, or even less, in hand,&rdquo; he said. Dr Rahman said extensive discussions were held with OIC partners to assess the overall situation and devise strategies to secure Bangladesh&rsquo;s victory in the election. &ldquo;We have received their full and unequivocal support,&rdquo; he said, adding that OIC countries assured not only their votes but also active campaigning in favour of Dhaka&rsquo;s candidature across the world. He noted that Palestine had withdrawn its candidature a few days ago as anticipated, clearing the way for Bangladesh to contest the 2026&ndash;2027 term against Cyprus. Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir described the response from OIC countries as highly encouraging. &ldquo;We have received very positive feedback. We will conduct a detailed assessment at an appropriate stage, but the support so far has been strong. The visit was both fruitful and productive,&rdquo; he said. Earlier, the interim government had nominated former Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain as Bangladesh&rsquo;s candidate. Following the change in government, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman nominated Dr Rahman for the position. The election for the president of the 81st session of the UNGA is scheduled to be held on June 2 at the UN Headquarters in New York in accordance with Rule 30 of the Rules of Procedure. Under the established regional rotation system, the president for the 81st session will be elected from the Asia-Pacific Group. The 81st session of the UNGA will open on Sept. 8, 2026, while the high-level General Debate will begin on Sept. 22. Bangladesh last held the position in 1986&ndash;87, when then foreign minister Humayun Rashid Chowdhury was elected President of the 41st General Assembly. On regional issues, the foreign minister expressed concern over escalating tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, saying war would bring no benefit to anyone. Describing the situation between the two SAARC member states as &ldquo;very sad,&rdquo; he said Bangladesh is approaching the matter cautiously and refraining from making any public statement for now. &ldquo;We are trying, in our own way, to help our friends understand that such conflicts do not serve anyone&rsquo;s interests,&rdquo; he said. Dr Rahman also reiterated Bangladesh&rsquo;s firm and unchanged position on Palestine, stating that the country&rsquo;s stance on the Palestinian issue remains unequivocal. ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has ruled out any dialogue with the Afghan Taliban, saying there is &ldquo;nothing to talk about&rdquo; until terrorism originating from Afghan soil comes to an end, Prime Minister&rsquo;s Spokesperson for Foreign Media Mosharraf Zaidi said Friday.&nbsp;Speaking to Pakistan TV Digital, Zaidi rejected suggestions of renewed talks after Afghan Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid indicated openness to dialogue.&nbsp;&ldquo;There won&rsquo;t be any talks. There&rsquo;s no dialogue. There&rsquo;s no negotiation. He also dismissed the prospect of Afghanistan gaining meaningful external backing.&nbsp;&ldquo;They have been trying to make alliances, but whatever they stand for is not acceptable anywhere,&rdquo; he said, adding that expectations of outside support were &ldquo;wishful thinking.&rdquo;&nbsp;Both officials stressed that Pakistan&rsquo;s policy remains focused on countering militancy and restoring stability, with no immediate shift in approach under consideration.

Discovery in a deal valuing the combined company at $110 billion, after beating Netflix in a bruising bidding war.&nbsp;The agreement ends a&nbsp;<a href="https://www.pakistantv.com/article/paramount-poised-to-acquire-warner-bros-after-netflix-walks-away" target="_blank" style="color:#0073e6;" rel="noopener noreferrer">five-month bidding saga</a>&nbsp;and creates an entertainment behemoth whose impact on a struggling media landscape &mdash; and connections to Donald Trump&#39;s White House &mdash; will be closely scrutinized.&nbsp;The merged entity will include CNN, HBO and Nickelodeon as well as some of Hollywood&#39;s most valuable franchises, including Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, the DC Universe, Mission Impossible and SpongeBob SquarePants.&nbsp;Under the terms of the agreement,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.pakistantv.com/article/paramount-counters-netflix-with-hostile-bid-for-warner-bros" target="_blank" style="color:#0073e6;" rel="noopener noreferrer">Paramount</a>will pay $31.00 per share in cash for all outstanding Warner Bros. WASHINGTON: Iran agreed in talks with the United States never to stockpile enriched uranium, mediator Oman&#39;s top diplomat said Friday, in what he called a breakthrough that he hoped would prevent war.&nbsp;Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi, whose country brokered&nbsp;<a href="https://www.pakistantv.com/article/iran-urges-us-to-drop-excessive-demands-to-reach-deal" target="_blank" style="color:#0073e6;" rel="noopener noreferrer">talks between the United States and Iran</a>&nbsp;in Geneva on Thursday, said he believed all issues in a deal could be resolved &quot;amicably and comprehensively&quot; within three months.&nbsp;&quot;If the ultimate objective is to ensure forever that Iran cannot have a nuclear bomb, I think we have cracked that problem through these negotiations by agreeing on a very important breakthrough that has never been achieved any time before,&quot; Albusaidi told the CBS News program &quot;Face the Nation.&quot;&nbsp;&quot;I think if we can capture that and build on it, I think a deal is within our reach,&quot; he said.&nbsp;The minister added that Iran would not be able to stockpile enriched uranium and that there would be verification.&nbsp;He said Iran would also degrade its current stockpiles to &quot;the lowest level possible&quot; so that it is &quot;converted into fuel, and that fuel will be irreversible.&quot;&nbsp;&quot;This is something completely new. It really makes the enrichment argument less relevant, because now we are talking about zero stockpiling,&quot; said Albusaidi, who met earlier Friday with US Vice President JD Vance.&nbsp;<a href="https://www.pakistantv.com/article/trump-not-thrilled-with-iran-but-undecided-on-attack" target="_blank" style="color:#0073e6;" rel="noopener noreferrer">President Donald Trump&#39;s administration</a>&nbsp;accuses Tehran of intending to build a nuclear weapon. But &quot;if you cannot stockpile material that is enriched, then there is no way you can actually create a bomb,&quot; Albusaidi told CBS.&nbsp;In a 2015 agreement negotiated by former president Barack Obama, Iran agreed to keep enrichment only to a low level that is well below weapons grade.&nbsp;Trump ripped up the deal in his first term and imposed sanctions, and in recent weeks has deployed the US military in the region to levels not seen in years.&nbsp;Secretary of State Marco Rubio has insisted that any deal cover not just the nuclear program but also Iran&#39;s missiles.&nbsp;Asked about the missile issue, Albusaidi said: &quot;I believe Iran is open to discussing everything.&quot;
