ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Saturday spoke with his Uzbek counterpart Bakhtiyor Saidov to discuss bilateral and multilateral matters of mutual interest.
According to the foreign office statement on X, the two diplomats discussed regional developments alongside Pak-Uzbek relations.
“FM Saidov also appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in mediation for regional peace & security,” said the statement.
Pakistan and Uzbekistan have signed multiple MOUs earlier this year worth $3.4 billion to enhance and further trade between the two countries.
Both countries vowed to increase bilateral trade to $2b within five years in February when the Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev paid a two-day visit to Pakistan at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Pakistan also continues to play an active role in mediating the conflict in the Middle East, which currently stands on a ceasefire brokered by Islamabad's leadership.
