Iran Guards say will deal 'severely' with military ships transiting Strait of Hormuz

Iran's Revolutionary Guards threatened to deal "severely" with any military vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, state TV reported Sunday, after the US Central Command said two US Navy warships had transited the strategic waterway to clear mines laid by Tehran.

 

"Any attempt by military vessels to pass through the Strait of Hormuz will be dealt with severely. The IRGC Navy has full authority to manage the Strait of Hormuz intelligently," the Guards' Navy Command said, according to state broadcaster IRIB, adding passage of the strait would only be "granted to civilian vessels under specific conditions".


Trump says makes 'no difference' to him if Iran, US reach deal

US President Donald Trump said Saturday he was not bothered about the outcome of US-Iran talks in Pakistan, insisting that the United States had come out ahead from the war.

 

"Whether we make a deal or not makes no difference to me. The reason is because we've won," Trump told reporters.

 

 Israel PM says wants Lebanon peace deal 'that will last for generations'

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Saturday that any peace agreement reached with Lebanon must be one that "lasts for generations".

 

"Lebanon has approached us. In the past month, it has reached out several times to begin direct peace talks," Netanyahu said in a televised statement.

 

"I have given my approval, but on two conditions: we want the dismantling of Hezbollah's weapons, and we want a real peace agreement that will last for generations."

 

US warships transit Strait of Hormuz in mine clearance op: Centcom

Two US Navy warships have transited the Strait of Hormuz at the start of an operation to clear the strategic waterway of mines laid by Iran, US Central Command said Saturday.


"Today, we began the process of establishing a new passage and we will share this safe pathway with the maritime industry soon to encourage the free flow of commerce," said Centcom commander Admiral Brad Cooper.


French president discusses opportunity for lasting peace in call with Iranian president

French President Emmanuel Macron said he discussed with Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian the possibility of paving the way for a lasting de-escalation through talks in Islamabad, demanding an agreement that provides solid security guarantees for the region, involving all the countries concerned. 


The French president, in his post on X, said that he emphasized the need for “Iran to swiftly restore freedom and security of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, to which France stands ready to contribute. “


“I stressed the importance of full respect for the ceasefire, including in Lebanon,” Macron said, adding that France extends its full support to the actions of the Lebanese authorities.


Trump claims Iran’s military “destroyed,” dismisses media reports

US President Donald Trump criticized what he described as “fake news media,” accusing it of being “crazy” or “corrupt” while rejecting reports on the conflict with Iran.


Trump claimed that the United States had “completely destroyed” Iran’s military capabilities, including its navy and air force, and asserted that Iran’s leadership was “dead.”


He also said the Strait of Hormuz would “soon be open,” adding that ships were heading to the United States to “load up,” despite media narratives suggesting otherwise.



Iran delegation vows firm stance ahead of Islamabad talks

A high-ranking Iranian delegation in Pakistan will firmly safeguard the country’s interests and enter negotiations with “courage,” Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said in a post on X.


Pezeshkian added that government services will continue without interruption, stressing that authorities will stand by the people regardless of the outcome of the talks.


Thailand to increase essential goods allowance for 'vulnerable'

Thailand will increase its allowance for essential goods starting Monday to help mitigate the economic impacts of the US-Israel war on Iran, which are particularly affecting farmers, small business owners and "vulnerable" people.


More than 13 million Thais who hold a card entitling them to social benefits in the Southeast Asian country will see their monthly allowance increase from 300 baht to 400 baht ($9.31 to $12.42) for their daily expenses, the finance ministry said at a press briefing Saturday.

Iran's envoy to the  UN has said that Dr Kamal Kharrazi's assassination is part of Israel’s pattern to undermine diplomacy, Iranian state-run IRNA News Agency reported.  


Seyed Kamal Kharrazi, the head of the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations of the Islamic Republic of Iran, died on Thursday night after succumbing to severe injuries sustained in an attack by the US and Israel several days ago, Iranian Mehr News agency reported.


US, Iranian delegations in Islamabad for talks

US Vice President JD Vance arrived in Islamabad, leading a high-level delegation to participate in the negotiations, the Foreign Office said, marking a key moment in efforts to turn a fragile ceasefire into a broader peace framework.


The delegation includes Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. 


Officials said the US team will engage in negotiations aimed at addressing core issues, including regional security and de-escalation.


An Iranian delegation of more than 70 members, led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, arrived first in Islamabad under tight security, according to the Pakistan Foreign Office.


Lebanon presidency says Israel talks to take place Tuesday in Washington

Lebanon's presidency said Friday that a meeting would be held with Israel in Washington next week to discuss a ceasefire in the Israel-Hezbollah war and the start of negotiations between the neighbors.


Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has repeatedly expressed readiness for direct talks with Israel.


After a ceasefire was announced between the United States and Iran this week, Washington and Tehran have been at odds over whether it also applies to Lebanon, as Israel has kept up heavy strikes on the country and Hezbollah has responded with its own attacks.


Trump says Strait of Hormuz will open 'fairly soon'

US President Donald Trump vowed Friday to have the Strait of Hormuz open "with or without" Iran's cooperation, ahead of peace talks in Pakistan in which the key waterway will loom large.

 

"We're going to open up the gulf with or without them...or the strait as they call it. I think it's going to go pretty quickly, and if it doesn't, we’ll be able to finish it off," Trump told reporters as he left Washington for a domestic trip.

 

"We will have that open fairly soon."
