ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistan Test cricketer Wazir Mohammad passed away on Monday at the age of 95, according to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
According to ESPNcricinfo, Wazir was born in Junagadh in 1929 and was part of the legendary Mohammad cricketing family, which included his renowned brothers Hanif, Mushtaq, and Raees Mohammad.
The right-handed batsman represented Pakistan in 20 Test matches between 1952 and 1959, establishing himself as a dependable batter during the formative years of the country's cricketing history.
In a message shared on X (formerly Twitter), the PCB expressed its condolences, stating: “One of the four Mohammad brothers to represent Pakistan in Test cricket, he featured in 20 matches for his country from 1952 to 1959.”
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi also paid tribute to Wazir Mohammad in an official statement, remembering him as both a talented cricketer and a gentleman.
“Wazir Mohammad was a good batsman and an extremely refined human being,” Naqvi said, extending thoughts and prayers to the bereaved family.
